There is a real vulgarity in the way women dress at the moment. They show off too much and try too hard. They don’t understand where the line is between sexy and vulgar.-Roberto Cavalli
I have a confession to make, dear one.
And here it is:
I’ve always felt like I was born into the wrong decade.
Well, the wrong century.
It’s a feeling I fear I’ll never shake for as long as I live. It’s almost as if I’m a stranger in a strange land.
Or a time traveler that has annoyingly lost the directions to her time machine.
I reluctantly wander through a land where:
-The people feel wrong
-Societal protocol erodes quickly
-Our language is consistently dumbed down and raucous to the ear
-And the fashions, I daresay, leave much to be desired…
Have you ever felt that way?
I’m happy to report that like freshly lit kindling in a dark room, hope for wanderers like me shines brightly, after all.
And if you answered my question above in the affirmative, you are one of those wonderful wanderers indeed.
So, let’s continue to travel together shall we? Company is always welcome when you’re on a journey.
Let’s pause on the path for but a moment and travel with me in your mind’s eye…
Do you see her?
The woman sits at the cafe, her gaze focused on a distant point. She’s surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city, but somehow seems to be in her own world. But if you stop to look closer you would see that this woman was no ordinary passerby – her wardrobe exudessotto voce eleganza.
From head to toe she oozes soft elegance from every angle. Her black coat drapes over her frame like liquid, while beneath it a silk blouse gently reflects the sunlight. Her trousers are tailored perfectly and complemented by a pair of pristine leather boots.
Just pure sophistication from top-to-toe without even needing garish labels on her purses or shoes for others to recognize it as “expensive”.
She’s the type that does not need anyone else’s recognition.
Ah, a Duchess, I see…
She finishes off what remains of her latte, packs away her copy of The Economist, dons her Saint Laurent cat eye sunglasses and steps out onto the street once more, ready to take on whatever comes with grace and poise..
As the world of fashion and trends continues to evolve and develop, one thing that remains a classic is the timeless appeal of soft elegance. The idea of simplicity and grace has been the cornerstone of sophisticated style for centuries, and for good reason.
In today’s world of Tik Tok culture, there is an overwhelming array of styles and looks that are flashy, garish and often vulgar.
Women who are looking to make a lasting impression and stand head and shoulders above her competition should avoid these trends and opt for the classic and timeless.
Soft elegance is the key to creating a timeless look that is both feminine and alluring.
From vintage automobiles to timeless fashion silhouettes, the concept of going “old school” has grown in popularity amongst people living through financially uncertain times.
Women are seeking out reliable items that hold a sense of luxury and classic craftsmanship. These well-made treasures have the potential to endure wear after wear.
Fast fashion and trends wishes fade, tear easily, and fall apart after a few washes.
The saying you get what you pay for rings forever true here.
As such, many people have found solace in returning to charm of the classics.
But you might be thinking?
What styles will work for me? How can I create sotto voce eleganza in my own wardrobe?
Aarti, where do I start?!
I hear you.
And I see you.
I know you want more for yourself.
Even more than making a statement with soft elegance.
You want it all.
My kind of girl.
